Time 25m

Yield 9 biscuits

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups baking mix (Jiffy or Bisquick)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7-Up soda (any clear carbonated drink will work)
1/4 cup melted butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • Cut the sour cream into your biscuit mix. "Cutting in" is simply incorporating your sour cream, butter or shortening into your dry baking mix without using a mixer. You can use a fork, knife, pastry cutter or the tools God gave you, your fingers. You just want to make sure that each portion of your {wet} ingredient gets coated with the dry mix.
  • Stir in 1/2 cup 7 Up. The dough will be very soft, don't worry.
  • Sprinkle additional baking mix on to your counter, about a 1/2 cup seems to work just fine.
  • Knead and fold dough until coated with your baking mix. Pat dough out, (no rolling pin needed) and cut biscuits using a round biscuit/cookie cutter. Don't have one, no problem, you can certainly use a glass or empty soup can to cut out your biscuits. Where there's a will, there's a way! Improvising is fine.
  • Melt butter in a 9 inch square pan. I stick my pan and butter in the oven for a few minutes. Just a few though, the butter will burn, so watch it.
  • Place cut biscuits on top of melted butter and bake for 12-15 minutes or until brown.

EASY 7-UP BISCUITS RECIPE - (2/5)

Easy 7-Up Biscuits Recipe - (2/5) image

Provided by msippigrl

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 cup salted butter (1-stick)
4 1/2 cups all-purpose baking mix such as Bisquick (I used Great Value brand)
1 cup 7-Up soda pop (or other lemon-lime soda), well chilled
1 cup cold sour cream (I used Daisy brand, Light)

Steps:

  • Measure the baking mix into a large mixing bowl and place it in the freezer until needed. Meanwhile, prepare a well-floured work surface. (I floured a sheet of parchment paper.) Preheat oven to 425°F. Cut the butter into pats and place them in a 9x13-inch baking dish; place it in the oven just until the butter melts, no longer. Remove from oven and set aside to cool. In a large bowl, make a well in the center of the cold baking mix; add 7-Up and sour cream to the well and stir together until combined then stir into the baking mix just until moistened. Do not over-mix dough. Turn the dough onto the floured work surface. Sprinkle baking mix or flour on top of the dough and gently pat out with hands to about 1-inch thickness. Cut biscuits out with a 2 - 2 1/2" biscuit cutter, leaving them where they are until all have been cut. Gather the scraps and pat out again. Place the biscuits in the pan on top of the melted butter. Place in oven and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let the biscuits sit for a few minutes to absorb any remaining butter.

Time 30m

Yield 9 Medium biscuits

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 cups baking mix (Jiffy or Bisquick)
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup 7-Up soda or 1/2 cup Sprite
1/2 cup melted butter

  • Stir in 1/2 cup 7 Up (any clear carbonated drink will work). The dough will be very soft, don't worry.
  • Sprinkle additional baking mix on to your counter, about a 1/2 cup seems to work just fine.
  • Knead and fold dough until covered in your baking mix. Pat dough out, (no rolling pin needed) and cut biscuits using a round biscuit/cookie cutter. Don't have one, no problem, you can certainly use a glass or empty soup can to cut out your biscuits.
  • Melt butter in a 9 inch square pan. I stick my pan and butter in the oven for a few minutes to melt the butter. Just a few though, the butter will burn, so watch it.
  • Place cut biscuits on top of melted butter and bake for 12-15 minutes or until brown.

Tips:

  • Choosing the right flour is essential for the perfect 7-Up biscuits. All-purpose flour is a good option, but you can also use self-rising flour for a lighter texture.
  • Make sure the butter is cold before grating it into the flour mixture. This will help to create flaky layers in the biscuits.
  • Don't overwork the dough. Overworking the dough will make the biscuits tough. Mix the ingredients just until they come together.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling and cutting it out. This will help to prevent the biscuits from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the biscuits in a hot oven. A hot oven will help to create a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior.

Conclusion:

These 7-Up biscuits are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create a batch of light, flaky biscuits that are perfect for any occasion. Whether you're serving them with butter and jam, gravy, or your favorite soup, these biscuits are sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy bread recipe, give these 7-Up biscuits a try. You won't be disappointed!
