Helpful Cooking Instructions

  • Before discarding the liquid from the peas, save it for a later preparation. It's a source of soluble fibre and plant-based protein in addition to being being an excellent natural thickener. You should keep in mind, that there might be a can's or carton's worth of this valuable material.
  • You can reduce cooking time by 2/3rds using a pressure cooker. Fish such as Cod is renowned for being difficult to prepare, taking as long as 12 to 15 minutes per inch of thickest portion. However, if you use a pressure cooker, you could cut down on this preparation time by at least 2/3rds.
  • Your final dish will have a lot of taste if you use a good-quality fish broth. It's simple to produce homemade fish broth using fish carcasses and kitchen scraps.
  • Keep the amount of peas used in a recipe to a minimum in order to avoid having the peas turn to an unappealing, soupy texture.
  • Serving fish with a side of starch is a good idea: rice, baked or mashed root veggies, such as carrots, parsnips, and rutabagas, are great options.
