Steps:
- Mix all the ingredients together and knead for thirty to forty seconds.
- Let rise (about forty minutes) and knock down and knead for thirty seconds.
- Repeat.
- (Or let the bread machine do all the kneading and timing for you and go beach combing until it's time to cook the dough!) Allow final rise in a bread pan, about forty minutes, and preheat oven to 425 f.
- Place in oven and decrease temperature to 350 f.
- Bake for thirty minutes.
Tips:
- Use Fresh Ingredients: Especially important for the coconut milk and fruit. Fresh coconut milk will give your Bahamas bread a richer, creamier flavor, and fresh fruit will provide a burst of sweetness and freshness.
- Don't Overmix the Batter: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense bread. Mix the batter just until the ingredients are combined.
- Let the Bread Cool Completely Before Slicing: This will help to prevent the bread from crumbling.
- Store the Bread in an Airtight Container: This will help to keep the bread moist and fresh.
Conclusion:
Bahamas bread is a delicious and versatile quick bread that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's easy to make and can be customized with a variety of fruits, nuts, and spices. Whether you're looking for a simple snack or a hearty meal, Bahamas bread is a great option. So next time you're in the mood for something sweet and satisfying, give this recipe a try.
