1-1/2 pounds boneless round steak
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 medium onion, chopped
1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
Hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • Cut steak into thin strips. Combine mustard, chili powder, salt, pepper and garlic in a bowl; add steak and toss to coat. Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker; add tomatoes, onion and bouillon. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Stir in beans; cook 30 minutes longer. Serve over rice.

1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
5 slices bacon
1 can (15 to 16 ounces) lima beans, drained
1 can (15 to 16 ounces) butter beans, drained
1 can (15 to 16 ounces) kidney beans, drained
1 can (28 ounces) baked beans
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°. Cook beef and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown; drain. Place beef mixture in ungreased 3-quart casserole.
  • Cook bacon in same skillet over low heat 7 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until crisp and brown. Drain on paper towels; cool and crumble.
  • Stir beans, brown sugar, ketchup and Worcestershire sauce into beef in casserole. Top with bacon. Cover and bake 40 to 45 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 ½ tbsp vegetable oil
1kg stewing beef , cut into chunks
1 onion , sliced
2 garlic cloves , sliced
1 tbsp plain flour
1 tbsp black treacle
1 tsp cumin
400g can chopped tomato
600ml beef stock (from a cube is fine)
2 red peppers , deseeded and sliced
400g can cannellini bean , drained and rinsed
soured cream and coriander, to serve

Steps:

  • Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large saucepan with a lid. Season meat, then cook about one-third over a high heat for 10 mins until browned. Tip onto a plate and repeat with 2 tbsp of oil and rest of the meat.
  • Add a splash of water and scrape pan to remove bits. Add ½ tbsp oil. Turn heat down, fry onion and garlic until softened. Return meat to the pan, add flour and stir for 1 min. Add treacle, cumin, tomatoes and stock. Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hr 45 mins. Stir occasionally and check that the meat is covered with liquid.
  • Add peppers and beans, and cook for a further 15 mins. The stew can now be cooled and kept in the fridge for 2 days, or frozen for 1 month. Serve in bowls, with sour cream, coriander and cornbread.

5 teaspoons soy sauce, divided
3 teaspoons cornstarch, divided
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1 pound boneless beef sirloin, cut into thin strips
1/2 cup cold water
1 tablespoon oyster sauce, optional
1/2 teaspoon instant chicken bouillon granules
1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/2 cup sliced green onion (1-inch)
1 (14-ounce) can bean sprouts, drained
1/2 cup sliced water chestnuts
Hot cooked rice, for serving

Steps:

  • Blend egg white, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, ginger, garlic powder, salt and pepper in medium mixing bowl. Add beef and stir to coat. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
  • Combine cold water, oyster sauce, if using, remaining 3 teaspoons soy sauce, remaining cornstarch, and bouillon granules in small mixing bowl. Combine well and set aside.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons oil in large skillet. Add beef mixture and stir-fry over medium-high heat until beef is browned. Remove mixture from the skillet and set aside. Heat remaining oil to the skillet and add the mushrooms and onions. Stir-fry over medium-high heat 1 minute. Add bean sprouts and water chestnuts and stir-fry for another minute. 1 1/2 cups Mexican blend cheese, shredded
6 (6 inch) flour tortillas (fajita size, about 6-inch)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Heat a tablespoon or so of Olive Oil in skillet and add garlic and onion. Saute for a minute or two.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned; Drain.
  • Stir in seasonings and tomato sauce over medium heat; Add refried beans and mix thoroughly.
  • Generously spoon beef and bean mixture into floured tortillas, sprinkle with cheese, roll up and place seam side down in a lightly greased 8" x 8" square casserole dish.

1 small onion, diced

1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 -2 potato, peeled & diced (if in a hurry you can use a 14.5oz. can of potatos drained)

Steps:

  • Cook ground beef and onion. Drain.

1/4 cup julienned green bell pepper
1/4 pound shredded beef
4 ounces cleaned bean sprouts
1 teaspoon cornstarch
4 tablespoons chicken stock
1 tablespoon salted black beans
4 ounces fresh Chinese noodles (see note)
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons peanut oil
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
2 tablespoons thinly sliced spring onion
1 tablespoon oyster sauce

Steps:

  • Cut green pepper into julienne strips about 1/8 inch thick; cut beef into strips 1/8 inch wide, 2 inches long and about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Remove heads and tails from bean sprouts, and rinse.
  • Mix cornstarch with a little chicken stock to make paste; then stir in remaining stock.
  • Rinse black beans to remove salt; drain.
  • Cook noodles in boiling water until tender, 1 to 2 minutes, depending on thickness of noodles. Drizzle with 2 teaspoons peanut oil.
