4 pounds beef top sirloin steak, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
4 cups chopped onions
1/4 cup butter
4 quarts hot water
4 cups sliced carrots
4 cups cubed peeled potatoes
2 cups chopped cabbage
1 cup chopped celery
1 large green pepper, chopped
8 teaspoons beef bouillon granules
1 tablespoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon pepper
4 bay leaves
6 cups tomato juice

Steps:

  • In two Dutch ovens, brown beef and onions in butter in batches; drain. Add the water, vegetables and seasonings; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes. , Add tomato juice; cover and simmer 10 minutes longer or until the beef and vegetables are tender. Discard bay leaves.

1 and a half pounds stewing beef, more if you prefer
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, maybe less
2 bay leaves
4 -5 medium carrots, sliced
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup cabbage, chopped
2 and a half cups canned plum tomatoes
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 beef bouillon cube
1 pinch oregano

Steps:

  • In a heavy 3 quart kettle, cover the meat with water. Add salt, pepper, and bay leaves. Bring to the bubbly stage, then turn to low while adding the first four vegetables. Simmer at least 2 and 1/2 hours or until the meat is very tender. Remove the bay leaves. Cut the meat into bite-sized pieces. Add tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients. Simmer another 1/2 hour longer, then serve.

1 pound ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon curry powder

¼ cup balsamic vinegar

1 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup chopped cauliflower
1 (16 ounce) can English peas, drained and rinsed
2 tablespoons water, or as needed

  • Bring 2 cups water and rice to a boil in a saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until rice is tender and water has been absorbed, 15 to 20 minutes.

1 onion, diced
2 tablespoons curry paste, mild Indian curry paste
500 g beef, diced
420 g condensed vegetable beef soup
500 ml water
2 tomatoes, diced
2 tablespoons mint leaves, freshly chopped
1/4 cup yoghurt, low fat natural, unsweetened (optional)
