Time 20m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 ½ pounds ground chuck
½ teaspoon garlic pepper, or to taste
¼ cup diced onion
2 tablespoons butter
4 slices American cheese
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Place the ground chuck into a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring to crumble, until no longer pink. Drain the grease from the skillet and reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the onion and butter and season with garlic pepper. Cook, stirring frequently, until the onion is tender. Lay the slices of cheese on top of the meat. As the cheese starts to melt, fold the meat from the edges onto the cheese, keeping some of the meat under the cheese. Keep folding the meat until the cheese has completely melted and everything is well blended. Spoon onto hamburger buns to serve.

When my daughter was little she would always ask me to make"those big, gooey messy burgers" (most of us call them sloppy joes) however the tangy sweet flavor always gets huge reviews & recipe requests. I make on stove top then put in the crockpot and I never have any leftovers, my husband, co workers and family often request me to make these, I hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

ALL GROWN-UP S'MORES

All Grown-Up S'mores image

Sticky, Chewy, Messy, Gooey by Jill O'Connor is a wonderful book with some of the most delicious-looking desserts!. Found this one there too, the desserts are to die for! A sweet, crumbly graham cracker crust is topped with a dense, very adult, very rich, and very boozy chocolate cream ;).The combination of liquers here is by no means written in stone: dark rum, Grand Marnier, bourbon -- just pick two or three complimentary flavors. BTW - my friend Judy has added this as one of the desserts for her summer blow-out. :)

Tips:

  • Use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This will make a big difference in the taste of your burger.
  • Don't overwork the meat. Mix it just until it's evenly combined. Overworking the meat will make it tough.
  • Use a large skillet or griddle. This will help prevent the burgers from overcrowding and steaming.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat. This will help them cook evenly without burning.
  • Flip the burgers only once. Flipping them too often will make them dry.
  • Let the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help them retain their juices.
  • Top the burgers with your favorite toppings. Some popular options include cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion.

Conclusion:

Making a big, gooey, messy burger is easy if you follow these tips. Just remember to use fresh ingredients, don't overwork the meat, and cook the burgers over medium heat. With a little practice, you'll be able to make burgers that will impress your friends and family.
