BACON-BLEU CHEESE BALL

Bacon-Bleu Cheese Ball image

A zesty bleu-cheese, bacon, and onion cheese ball. Best served with multi-grain crackers. The recipe I reworked for this cheese ball called for 1 pound of bacon fried, drained, and crumbled. I didn't have time for all that, so used the bacon bits and found them at least as good and less mess. Make sure your cream cheese is really soft, or else it is a little hard to mix well. Bon Appetit!

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 pkg 3 oz. each cream cheese, softened (9 oz. total)
4 oz blue cheese, crumbled
2 Tbsp bourbon or wine or fruit juice
3/4 tsp dry mustard
garnish crispy bacon bits, toasted sesame seeds or nuts
garnish crackers and pretzels

Steps:

  • 1. Place the cream cheese and bleu cheese in mixer bowl and beat until soft. Add the bourbon and mustard. Blend well. Shape into a ball. Roll lightly and evenly in the bacon bits or sesame seeds or nuts or a combination of all. Wrap in wax paper and refrigerate overnight.
  • 2. This is a great cheese ball weather you decorate it or not- great for a summer BBQ without the turkey deco!

Tips:

  • Soften the cream cheese: Before mixing the ingredients, ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature. This allows it to blend smoothly and evenly.
  • Use high-quality ingredients: The quality of your ingredients greatly impacts the taste of the blue cheese ball. Opt for fresh herbs, flavorful cheese, and crunchy nuts.
  • Chill the mixture before shaping: Refrigerating the cheese ball mixture for at least 30 minutes helps it firm up, making it easier to shape and coat in toppings.
  • Garnish creatively: After coating the cheese ball in nuts, herbs, or spices, add a final touch with a drizzle of honey, balsamic glaze, or chopped chives for an elegant presentation.
  • Serve with crackers or bread: Provide an assortment of crackers, bread slices, or vegetable crudités for dipping and enjoying the cheese ball.

Conclusion:

Creating a flavorful and impressive blue cheese ball is a delightful culinary experience that can elevate any gathering. With careful ingredient selection, proper preparation, and creative garnishing, you can craft a cheese ball that tantalizes taste buds and leaves a lasting impression.
