Tips:
- For a crispy crust, double-coat the tilapia fillets in the breadcrumbs.
- Use Panko breadcrumbs for a lighter, flakier crust.
- Add some grated Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs for extra flavor.
- Season the breadcrumbs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder before coating the fish.
- If you don't have buttermilk, you can use regular milk mixed with a little bit of lemon juice or vinegar.
- Be sure to heat the oil to the proper temperature before frying the fish. If the oil is not hot enough, the fish will absorb too much oil.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when frying the fish. If the pan is too crowded, the fish will not cook evenly.
- Garnish the cooked tilapia fillets with fresh herbs, lemon wedges, and tartar sauce.
