BUTTERMILK MASHED SWEET POTATOES (RACHAEL RAY)
I am putting together a Weight Watcher's Thanksgiving. I found this on Rachael Ray's Yum-O site. I will be using pure maple syrup as it has less sugar content than the traditional sugars used in sweet potatoes. This sounds great!

Tips:
- Use a Russet Potato: Russet potatoes have a high starch content, which makes them ideal for mashing, giving you a smooth and creamy texture.
- Season Liberally: Don't be shy with the salt and pepper. Season your mashed potatoes generously, to taste, to ensure they are flavorful throughout.
- Don't Overcook the Potatoes: Overcooked potatoes will become gluey and lose their texture. Cook them just until they are tender when pierced with a fork.
- Use Butter and Milk: For a classic, creamy mashed potato, use a combination of butter and milk. The butter will add richness, while the milk will help to thin them out and make them smooth.
- Add Aromatics: To enhance the flavor of your mashed potatoes, add aromatics like garlic, onion, or shallots. Sauté them in butter before adding them to the potatoes.
- Use Fresh Herbs: Fresh herbs, such as parsley, chives, or thyme, can brighten up your mashed potatoes and add a pop of color.
- Don't Forget the Cheese: If you're a cheese lover, feel free to add some grated cheddar, Parmesan, or Gruyèreチーズ to your mashed potatoes for an extra layer of flavor.
Conclusion:
Mashed potatoes are a versatile dish that can be enjoyed in many different ways. Whether you prefer them classic or loaded with toppings, there are endless possibilities for creating a delicious and satisfying meal. So get creative and experiment with different flavors and ingredients to find your perfect mashed potato recipe.
