CANTALOUPE-LIME AGUA FRESCA WITH CHIA SEEDS

Cantaloupe-Lime Agua Fresca With Chia Seeds image

A light, refreshing blender drink that is sweet and a little bit tart. Although I make this in a blender, I think it qualifies as an agua fresca rather than a smoothie, as it is made with pure fruit, enriched with a spoonful of soaked chia seeds. The flavor of the drink will only be as good as your melon, so seek out the best cantaloupe, or other sweet orange melon, you can find. I don't add sweetener to the drink, but you can if you think it needs a little something.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe cantaloupe: A ripe cantaloupe will have a deep orange color and a sweet, fragrant smell. Avoid cantaloupes that are green or have bruises or cuts.
  • Chill the cantaloupe and lime juice before blending: This will help to make the agua fresca extra refreshing.
  • Use a high-powered blender: This will help to create a smooth and creamy agua fresca. If you don't have a high-powered blender, you can use a regular blender, but you may need to blend the ingredients for longer.
  • Add chia seeds for a boost of nutrition: Chia seeds are a good source of fiber, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids. They can be added to the agua fresca before or after blending.
  • Serve the agua fresca immediately or chill it for later: Agua fresca is best enjoyed fresh, but it can also be chilled for later. If you are chilling the agua fresca, be sure to stir it before serving.

This cantaloupe-lime agua fresca with chia seeds is a delicious and refreshing drink that is perfect for a hot summer day. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences.
