GUINNESS BEEF STEW

Guinness Beef Stew image

A family favourite. The Guiness mellows during the cooking to produce a yummy gravy. I do like Queen Dragon Mum's idea of adding the molasses if you don't like prunes as that takes the edge off the Guiness too.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality Guinness beer for the best flavor. A dark, roasted Guinness will give the carrots a deep, rich flavor.
  • Peel and chop the carrots into even-sized pieces so that they cook evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot when cooking the carrots. If the carrots are too crowded, they will not cook evenly.
  • Add the Guinness beer, beef broth, and spices to the pot and bring to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to low and simmer the carrots for 20-30 minutes, or until they are tender.
  • If you want a thicker sauce, mix a cornstarch slurry (equal parts cornstarch and water) and add it to the pot. Bring to a simmer and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve the carrots with mashed potatoes, roasted chicken, or your favorite side dish.

Conclusion:

Carrots in Guinness is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. The carrots are tender and flavorful, and the Guinness beer adds a rich, malty flavor. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
