CHERRY-APPLESAUCE SALAD

Cherry-Applesauce Salad image

This recipe comes from an old church cookbook that I have been cooking out of for years. The dish is so easy to prepare, and everyone I've ever served it to has loved it. Be sure to use a good quality applesauce so the gelatin will get firm and set-up nicely. Cheaper applesauces have too much liquid in them for this recipe.

  • Use fresh cherries: Fresh cherries will give your applesauce the best flavor. If you can't find fresh cherries, you can use frozen or canned cherries.
  • Pit the cherries: Before you add the cherries to the applesauce, be sure to pit them. You can use a cherry pitter to make this task easier.
