CHICKEN IN FRENCH ONION SAUCE
This is a recipe from the Quick & Easy Casseroles from Durkees French Fried Onions cookbook (1988). This is so good. I also added diced onions, frozen corn and next time I'll also add some sliced potatoes. I'll also double the sauce and slightly thicken it so it coats the vegetables, I want to get every drop of that delicious sauce that I can. This would make a wonderful dish to take to a family reunion just cut the chicken into bite size pieces, then continue with the rest of the recipe.

Easy gravy-like sauce accompanies flavorful chicken. Crunch of veggies is nice contrast in texture. Hubby (who isn't crazy for onions, raved...3-year-old even ate it up!). Makes a nice one-dish meal.

Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make a big difference in the final dish. Use high-quality chicken breasts, a good dry white wine, and a flavorful Gruyère cheese.
- Don't overcrowd the pan: When searing the chicken breasts, make sure to give them enough space in the pan so that they can brown evenly. If you overcrowd the pan, the chicken will steam instead of sear.
- Cook the chicken until it is cooked through: Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Make sure the sauce is flavorful: The French onion sauce is the star of this dish, so make sure it is flavorful and well-seasoned. Use a good quality beef broth, plenty of onions, and a touch of white wine. Simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve the chicken with your favorite sides: This dish can be served with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
Conclusion:
Chicken in French Onion Sauce is a classic French dish that is sure to impress your guests. It is a flavorful and elegant dish that is perfect for a special occasion.
