CINNAMON-SUGAR POPCORN

Cinnamon-Sugar Popcorn image

I first tried this when I was visiting my sister in West Virginia. After trying it, I loved it, however I neglected to ask her for the recipe. 10 years later, I have it, and I still love it! The kids can help make it if you use an air popper (which I did to reduce fat and calories...there's enough in the butter!) I used my deep dish lasagna pan to cook it in the oven. You can use a roasting pan or any other large, deep dish pan. It makes a lot, so either invite your friends or store it in an airtight container for later.

MRS. MUELLER'S HONEY POPCORN

Mrs. Mueller's Honey Popcorn image

One of my dearest friends shared her mother's recipe with me for this tasty, lightly honey flavored popcorn. It is very easy and makes for a nice snack, especially enjoyed by children. Please only use freshly popped unseasoned popcorn - this really doesn't work well with the preseasoned microwave popcorn. Prep time assumes you have started with already popped popcorn.

Provided by HeatherFeather

Time 35m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup butter (4 ounces)

HIGH HONEY-SRIRACHA POPCORN

High Honey-Sriracha Popcorn image

No cannabis? No problem-skip it and you'll still have a killer spicy-sweet popcorn. But for those that want to partake, make sure you use only 1/2 teaspoon baked herb in this recipe (you'll have about 1 1/2 teaspoons leftover for another use). And go slow! This stuff is delicious, but you want to start with a little over a cup and wait at least an hour before having more-it often takes that long to feel the effects.

HEALTHY POPCORN TREAT

Healthy Popcorn Treat image

I wanted to make a sweet popcorn that was delicious but not loaded with sugar, so I came up with this recipe. It's one of my kids' favorites! Olive oil works if you don't have coconut oil. If you accidentally add to much salt, add a little more honey. If it's too sweet, add a little more salt. Start with a little cinnamon and gradually add more until it is the flavor you desire.

CINNAMON TOAST POPCORN

Cinnamon Toast Popcorn image

This snackable pile of lightly sweetened popcorn is reminiscent of buttery cinnamon toast and the perfect treat for two or four (or one!). You can easily make another batch to serve a crowd. Popcorn is coated in syrup and toasted in a pot to create a shell of caramelized sugar that's dusted with cinnamon. Five minutes out of the pot, the popcorn cools to a soft crispness, but if you bake it for just 10 minutes, the popped kernels dry all the way through and become crunchy to their core. This treat is delicious on its own or as part of a dessert board with gingerbread biscotti, iced oatmeal cookies or any other cookies of your choice.

Categories     quick, snack

Time 20m

Yield About 4 cups

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon coarse kosher salt
4 1/2 cups/50 grams popped unbuttered, unsalted popcorn (see Tip)
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 350 degrees and have a large sheet pan lined with parchment paper nearby.
  • In a large, heavy-bottomed pot, combine the sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt and 1 tablespoon water. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring with a large metal spoon or rubber spatula, until the butter melts and the mixture turns into thick bubbling syrup, about 1 minute. Cook until it begins to smell toasty, about 1 more minute, then add the popcorn, carefully tossing every 2 to 3 seconds, until it starts to brown lightly, another 1 to 2 minutes. Begin tossing constantly for another minute or two until the popcorn turns deep golden brown in most spots, being careful to never let it burn. Remove from the heat, sprinkle with the cinnamon and toss a final time to coat.
  • Immediately pour the toasted popcorn onto the lined sheet pan and spread in an even layer. Bake until a shade darker, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool the popcorn on the pan on a rack for 5 to 10 minutes to harden. Toss a final time to break up any clumps and serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh popcorn kernels: Fresh kernels will yield lighter and fluffier popcorn.
  • Don't overcrowd the pot: When making popcorn, it's important to use a large enough pot so that the kernels have plenty of room to pop. Overcrowding the pot will result in soggy, undercooked popcorn.
  • Don't add oil: Adding oil to the pot when making popcorn is unnecessary and will only make the popcorn greasy.
  • Use a high heat: Popcorn should be cooked over high heat so that the kernels pop quickly and evenly.
  • Listen for the popping to slow down: Once the popcorn starts popping, listen for the popping to slow down. When the popping slows to a few seconds between pops, remove the pot from the heat.
  • Season the popcorn immediately: Once the popcorn is cooked, season it immediately with your favorite seasonings. This will help the seasonings to adhere to the popcorn.

Conclusion:

Cinnamon and honey popcorn is a delicious and easy-to-make snack that is perfect for any occasion. It's a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without overindulging, and it's also a good source of fiber. With its sweet and spicy flavor, cinnamon and honey popcorn is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it.
