Time 15m

Yield 4-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice or 1 tablespoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons onions, minced
1 medium cabbage, shredded
1 small green pepper, chopped fine
1 large carrot, shredded

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together mayo, milk, lemon juice, sugar, salt, pepper and paprika until well blended.
  • Add the shredded cabbage and carrot, pepper and onion.
  • Gently toss together.
  • Cover and refrigerate at LEAST 1 hour for flavours to combine.

Tips:

  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline to thinly slice the cabbage and carrots. This will help them absorb the dressing better and make the coleslaw more tender.
  • If you don't have a mandoline, you can use a food processor fitted with a shredding disc. Just be careful not to over-process the vegetables, or they will become mushy.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables to your coleslaw, such as broccoli, cauliflower, or bell peppers. You can also add some chopped nuts or seeds for extra crunch.
  • For a sweeter coleslaw, add a tablespoon or two of sugar or honey to the dressing. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little bit of heat.
  • Coleslaw is best served chilled. Make it ahead of time and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.

Conclusion:

Coleslaw is a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed all year round. It's perfect for picnics, potlucks, and backyard barbecues. With so many different variations to choose from, there's sure to be a coleslaw recipe that everyone will love.
