CRISPY BAKED TILAPIA

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 medium leeks, washed and chopped (white and light green parts)
1 medium red bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 1/2 pounds tilapia
1 pinch Kosher salt
1 pinch freshly-ground black pepper
1 cup Panko (Japanese bread crumbs)
1/2 cup crushed potato chips
1/2 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Coat a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray. Toss leeks, red peppers, garlic and olive oil together. Spread out in an even layer in baking dish. Place fish on top of vegetables. Season with salt and pepper. Toss Panko, potato chips, Parmesan cheese and butter together. Sprinkle evenly over fish, pressing lightly into the fish to form a loose crust. Bake 20-25 minutes until fish flakes easily with a fork.

Tips:

  • Select the freshest tilapia fillets available. Fresh tilapia fillets should be firm to the touch and have a mild, slightly sweet smell. Avoid fillets that are slimy or have a strong fishy odor.
  • Pat the tilapia fillets dry before seasoning them. This will help the seasonings adhere to the fish and prevent them from washing off during baking.
  • Use a variety of seasonings to flavor the tilapia. Some popular options include lemon pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and chili powder. You can also use fresh herbs, such as parsley, cilantro, or thyme.
  • Bake the tilapia fillets at a high temperature for a short period of time. This will help to keep the fish moist and tender. The ideal baking temperature is 400 degrees Fahrenheit, and the cooking time is about 10-12 minutes per side.
  • Serve the tilapia fillets immediately after they are baked. Tilapia is best enjoyed when it is hot and crispy. You can serve it with a variety of sides, such as rice, vegetables, or salad.

Conclusion:

Crispy baked tilapia is a delicious and healthy meal that can be prepared in just a few minutes. By following the tips above, you can ensure that your tilapia fillets turn out perfectly crispy and flavorful every time. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give crispy baked tilapia a try!
