Steps:
- Cover; Place first 4 ingredients in crock-pot. DO NOT add vegetables. Cook on LOW 11 hours (get up early :).
- Remove meat and transfer liquid to another large pot.
- To the reserved liquid add potatoes.
- Cook on medium high stove top for 20 minutes and then add carrots, cook five minutes more, add cabbage and cook an additional 20 minutes.
- Meanwhilem, mix glaze ingredients. Spread glaze evenly over cooked brisket and bake meat (uncovered) for 30 minutes in oven at 350 degrees.
- This should be done about the time the vegetables are cooked through.
- I serve this with Irish soda bread and of course -- beer.
- (Note *** #8 corned beef feeds 6 adults and 5 kids, also prepare 5# potatoes, 2 # carrots and 2 heads cabbage and double glaze. It looks like a lot when you have it uncooked but meat shrinks about half once cooked. *** There will be leftovers, but you'll be happy then next day! otherwise if you are making this recipe for 1-4 people, stick to original recipe).

EASY CROCK POT TURKEY BREAST DINNER
This is my boys favorite turkey recipe. It is super juicy and never dried out. It is also really easy which is a bonus!
Provided by Cara Metzger
Categories Turkey
Number Of Ingredients 3
Steps:
- 1. Spray crock pot with non-stick spray and turn on low
- 2. Peel 4-6 carrots, wash, and cut to desired size
- 3. Cut onion and place onion and carrot pieces into crock pot
- 4. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and any other desired seasonings
- 5. Remove the thawed turkey from package. Remove the netting and discard. Place the turkey on the veggies. There typically is a side that has a small fat layer. Place the fat side up.
- 6. I used Butterball brand turkey which comes in a few flavors (Cajun, herb, dark meat, etc). There is an enclosed package of gravy. Open the package of gravy and pour over veggies and turkey.
- 7. Cook on low for about 6-8 hours. After cooking I pour the liquid out of the crockpot into a saucepan, sprinkle with flour, heat up and make a gravy. Also, you can easily remove the piece of fat from the turkey breast.
- 8. You can add potatoes, sweet potatoes, or any other veggies that tickle your fancy and they are equally delicious!
Tips:
- Choose the right Crock-Pot size: A 3-4 quart Crock-Pot is ideal for 2-3 people, while a 5-6 quart Crock-Pot is better for 4-6 people.
- Prep your ingredients: Cut vegetables and meat into bite-sized pieces, and brown the meat in a skillet before adding it to the Crock-Pot. This will help to develop flavor and prevent the meat from becoming dry.
- Use liquids: Adding liquid to your Crock-Pot dish will help to prevent the food from drying out. Water, broth, and tomato sauce are all good options.
- Don't overcrowd the Crock-Pot: Leave some space between the ingredients so that they can cook evenly.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours: This will give the food enough time to cook through without overcooking.
- Check the food occasionally: Stir the food every few hours to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the Crock-Pot.
Conclusion:
Crock-Pots are a great way to cook delicious and easy meals. With a little planning, you can have a hot and home-cooked meal waiting for you when you get home from work or school. So next time you're looking for a simple and convenient way to cook a meal, reach for your Crock-Pot!
