1 large ham bone (yielding 2 cups diced ham when cooked off )
2 to 3 quarts water (or as needed )
1/2 cup UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cold water
16 oz. pkg. wide egg noodles (uncooked)
Salt and pepper (to taste)
dried parsley (to taste)
dried thyme (to taste)

Steps:

  • Place ham bone in a slow cooker.
  • Fill with water.
  • Sprinkle generously with salt, pepper and parsley.
  • Heat overnight or on a low setting for 8 hours.
  • Remove ham to a large platter.
  • Remove fat, bones and gristle and discard.
  • Dice ham in small pieces; set aside.
  • Season ham broth with salt, pepper, parsley and thyme, as desired.
