CROCK POT GARLIC MASHED POTATOES
An easy way to make garlic mashed potatoes. I like to leave the skins on. I've found that a pastry blender works great for mashing potatoes; it seems even better than a masher.

RANCH HOUSE CROCK POT PORK CHOPS W/ PARMESAN MASHED POTATOES
This is a hugely popular slow cooker recipe originating on Picky Palate's blog. By many who have made this, it's been suggested to add 2 cans of soup for additional gravy, but do NOT increase the Ranch Dressing Seasoning for it will become too intensely flavored. Many recipes are out there for roasting garlic. I simply put the cloves in a square of foil, drizzle with olive oil, seal and bake in a toaster oven for about 20 minutes or until soft and golden.

Steps:
- Place pork chops, Ranch seasoning and soup into a medium sized crock pot over high heat for 4 hours or low heat for 6 hours. (This may take less time than allowed. Check prior to end time so as not to overcook.).
- Place potatoes into a large pot of cold water. Place onto stovetop over high heat and bring to a boil. Once water is boiling, cook for 10-12 minutes or until potatoes are fork tender. Drain and transfer to the work bowl of a stand or electric mixer. Mix on low until potatoes are mashed then add butter, parmesan, garlic, milk, salt and pepper. Season to taste if needed. For thinner mashed potatoes add more milk, slowly until your desired consitency.
- Serve chops with gravy over the parmesan potatoes.

Steps:
- 1. Peel the potatoes and cut them in quarters. Put in heavy pan and cover with water. Boil until tender, approximately 30 minutes.
- 2. Drain and then put in mixer bowl. As you begin to beat them, add milk to desired consistency; and then add up to one stick of butter and about 1/2 package of cream cheese. Again...up to you...but since I then put them in the crock pot, I like them a little creamier to start with!
- 3. Pour into greased crock pot and keep on low until you are ready for them!

- Cover and cook for 4 1/2 hours.
- Mash roughly in crock pot and add garlic, sour cream, salt, pepper, milk, and cream cheese and finish mashing.
LAYERED BEEF AND MASHED POTATOES (CROCK POT)
Do not make this recipe...it is not good!!!***Posting later to let everyone know...I wouldn't make this recipe again, I posted it on a friends recommendation. I really do not care for this recipe and do not recommend that you make it!***My friend from work gave me this recipe. She has to feed a wide spread of ages; she has herself and her husband, a 17 year old, 9 year old, and an almost 3 year old. She said everyone loved this. When she got home from work, everyone had already started on it, and she only got a little tiny bit! So I knew I had to give it a try! I tried it using homemade mashed potatoes, and they sort of ran down into the meat. I think the instant potatoes would be drier and probably work better in the recipe.

- 2. Place the potatoes in the crock pot.
- 3. Add the water or chicken broth, minced garlic, salt and pepper to the crock pot.
- 4. Cut up the butter and place it on top of the potatoes.
- 5. Set the crock pot on low 6-7 hours.
- 6. After the potatoes are done cooking, mash them up with a potato masher in the crock pot, or transfer the potatoes to a large bowl and mash with mixer.
- 7. Add the sour cream and cream cheese and mix until well blended. Put back in crock pot & keep warm until ready to serve.
- 8. Or serve hot.
Tips:
- For a smoother mashed potato, peel and cut the potatoes into even-sized pieces before boiling. This will ensure that they cook evenly.
- To prevent the potatoes from sticking to the pot, add a little bit of salt to the water before boiling.
- Don't overcook the potatoes. They should be tender but still firm enough to hold their shape.
- Drain the potatoes well before mashing them. This will help to prevent them from becoming watery.
- Use a potato ricer or a food mill to get the smoothest mashed potatoes. If you don't have either of these tools, you can use a potato masher, but be sure to mash the potatoes until they are completely smooth.
- Add your favorite seasonings and ingredients to taste. Some popular additions include butter, milk, cream, garlic, chives, and sour cream.
- If you are making mashed potatoes ahead of time, be sure to reheat them slowly over low heat, stirring frequently. This will help to prevent them from scorching.
Conclusion:
Mashed potatoes are a classic comfort food that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. They are simple to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make the perfect mashed potatoes every time.
