Tips:
- Choose your bread wisely: A sturdy bread that can hold up to the casserole's filling is ideal. Some good choices include French bread, sourdough, or a hearty whole-grain bread.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with fillings: The possibilities are endless when it comes to casserole fillings. You can use anything from leftover meats and vegetables to canned soup and pasta. Just be sure to choose a filling that will complement the bread you're using.
- Add some cheese: Cheese is always a good addition to a casserole. It adds flavor, richness, and a golden brown crust. You can use any type of cheese you like, but cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan are always popular choices.
- Bake until bubbly and golden brown: The casserole is ready when it's bubbly around the edges and the top is golden brown. This usually takes about 30 minutes in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Let it rest before serving: Once the casserole is out of the oven, let it rest for a few minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld and the casserole to set.
