Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 large egg
1 cup panko bread crumbs
1 ½ pounds chicken tenders
½ cup vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
½ cup finely grated Pecorino Romano cheese
½ cup salted butter
¼ cup coarsely chopped walnuts
⅓ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

salt and ground black pepper to taste

Time 20m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pound chicken livers
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Steps:

  • Place the chicken livers in a colander, and rinse with water. Drain the livers well. Whisk together the egg and milk in a shallow bowl until well blended. Place the flour, garlic powder, and salt and pepper in a resealable plastic zipper bag, and shake to combine.
  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Place the chicken livers in the bowl of egg and milk mixture, and coat each liver. Place the livers, one at a time, into the plastic bag of flour mixture, and shake the bag to coat the each liver completely.
  • Gently place the coated livers, a few at a time, into the hot oil. Cover the pan of oil with a frying screen to avoid getting burned by spatters of oil that will pop out as the livers fry. Deep fry the livers until crisp and golden brown, 5 to 6 minutes.

Tips:

  • Buy fresh chicken livers: Fresh chicken livers are plump, smooth, and have a deep red color. Avoid any livers that are bruised, slimy, or have an off odor.
  • Soak the livers in milk: Soaking the livers in milk helps to remove any bitterness and tenderize them. You can also soak them in buttermilk or yogurt for even more flavor.
  • Use a light hand when coating the livers: You want the livers to be evenly coated with the panko breadcrumbs, but don't overdo it. Too much breading will make the livers tough.
  • Cook the livers until they are golden brown: The livers should be cooked until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside and cooked through on the inside. This will take about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Serve the livers with your favorite dipping sauce: Chicken livers are traditionally served with a dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce.

Conclusion:

Deep-fried panko chicken livers are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack. They are perfect for parties or game day gatherings. With a crispy panko breading and a tender, flavorful interior, these chicken livers are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a new appetizer to try, give deep-fried panko chicken livers a try.
