Tips:

  • Choose the Right Pasta: Use a short, sturdy pasta like penne, rotini, or fusilli. These shapes will hold the dressing and toppings well.
  • Cook the Pasta Al Dente: Cook the pasta to just before it's fully tender, or al dente. This will help it hold its shape and not get mushy in the salad.
  • Use a flavorful Dressing: The dressing is what makes the pasta salad, so don't skimp on it! Use a dressing that has a good balance of oil, vinegar, and herbs.
  • Add a Variety of Vegetables: Vegetables add color, crunch, and nutrients to your pasta salad. Use a mix of vegetables that you and your family enjoy.
  • Don't Overcrowd the Pasta Salad: When you're adding the vegetables and other toppings to the pasta salad, don't overcrowd it. The pasta salad should be easy to toss and evenly coated with dressing.
  • Chill the Pasta Salad Before Serving: Chilling the pasta salad for at least an hour before serving allows the flavors to meld and develop.
