Conclusion
Dill Chive Peas are a fragrant and succulent side dish that can be prepared in a short amount of time. The peas are boiled until they are just starting to soften and then tossed with a flavorful mixture of fresh dill, chives, and butter. They can be served as a hot or a cold dish. Here are some tips and tricks to make the perfect Dill Chive Peas:
Dill Chive Peas
- Use fresh peas if possible. They have a much better texture and sweeter taste than the canned or the dry peas.
- You can blanch the peas before cooking. This means to boil them for a few minutes and then remove them immediately to an ice bath. This will help the peas to keep their color when they are cooking.
- Don't overcook the peas. They should be just starting to soften when you remove them from the heat. Peas will continue to cook as they cool, so it is important to make sure that you don't overcook them here.
- Be careful when you add the butter to the peas, because it can brown quickly over high heat. It is best to add the butter to the peas over low heat, stirring it as you add it.
- Taste the peas before you serve them and adjust the seasonings as necessary. You may want to add more dill, chives, or butter depending on your personal taste.
- Serve the peas hot as a side dish, or let them cool slightly and then chill them in the refrigerator for a cold dish. Peas can also be used in salads, soups, and other cold or hot side dish.
