DOROTHY LYNCH® STYLE SALAD DRESSING

Dorothy Lynch® Style Salad Dressing image

This is my husband's favorite dressing, and it is the best dressing to use in taco salad. The original dressing was made in St. Paul, Nebraska and is sold in the midwest but is becoming more expensive. This recipe is very similar to the store version and uses products I regularly have in my pantry. We love it.

Categories     Spaghetti

Time 40m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

8 ounces spaghetti
1/2 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup black olives, sliced
1 1/2 cups broccoli florets
1 1/2 cups cauliflower florets
1 3/4 cups dorothy lynch salad dressing
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup artichoke heart
1/4 cup pepperoni, sliced

Steps:

  • Break spaghetti into bite size pieces.
  • Cook until barely tender; drain.
  • Add rest of ingredients.
  • Chill.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality macaroni: Look for a brand that is made with durum wheat semolina, which will hold its shape better when cooked.
  • Cook the macaroni al dente: This means cooking it until it is just tender, but still has a slight bite to it.
  • Rinse the macaroni with cold water after cooking: This will stop the cooking process and prevent the macaroni from becoming mushy.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will add flavor, color, and texture to the salad.
  • Don't overdress the salad: A little bit of dressing goes a long way. You can always add more dressing if needed, but it's hard to take it out once it's been added.
  • Chill the salad before serving: This will help the flavors to meld and will make the salad more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Dorothy Lynch macaroni salad is a classic American side dish that is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and barbecues. It is a simple dish to make, but it is always a crowd-pleaser. With its creamy, tangy dressing, crunchy vegetables, and tender macaroni, Dorothy Lynch macaroni salad is a dish that everyone will love.
