DRAGON'S BLOOD PUNCH AND HAND ICE MOLD

Dragon's Blood Punch and Hand Ice Mold image

Halloween fun for everyone (you can add some vodka or rum for the adults...but you didn't hear that from me!). I'm really not sure how to put in Zaar times for prep and cook, so just take a look at the directions. It's very easy! The frist "ingredient" is: 1 new rubber glove, washed well and rinsed. The Zaar puter kept spitting that one back at me.

Time P2DT10m

Yield 20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 (64 ounce) bottle apple juice, chilled
1 (64 ounce) bottle cranberry juice, chilled
2 (32 ounce) bottles ginger ale, chilled
red food coloring (optional)

Steps:

  • You will also need: 1 lb coffee, can washed and rinsed.
  • To make the hand, fill rubber glove with water. Tie at the wrist with string and freeze one or two days. Unmold. Sometimes a finger will fall off when unmolding, this only adds to the ghoulish effect.
  • To make a base for the hand, fill coffee can about 1/3 full with water. Insert the hand and freeze until firm. To remove, run water on the outside of can.
  • When ready to serve pour half the chilled juices and ginger ale into the punch bowl. Insert hand ice mold in the center. Fill bowl with remaining juices and soda. For added effect, place a few drops of red food coloring on the tips of the fingers just before serving.

GARDEN-OF-EVIL PUNCH

Garden-of-Evil Punch image

Beckoning jewel-toned fruits are cleverly frozen into a block of ice using a cake pan, then floated atop a Halloween punch spiked with sake and plum wine. Pomegranate juice gives the drink a very apt blood-red hue.

Time 4h10m

Yield Serves 10 to 12

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 bunch red or black grapes
12 kumquats, sliced
4 ounces husk cherries
1 cup pomegranate seeds
6 cups dry sake, such as Gekkeikan Horin Junmai Daiginjo
1 1/2 cups plum wine, such as Choya Umeshu
3 cups pomegranate juice
Seltzer
Edible hibiscus and begonia leaves (optional)

Steps:

  • Fill an 8-inch cake pan with 1/2 inch water; freeze until solid, at least 4 hours.
  • Arrange fruits evenly in pan, reserving a few cherries and a handful each of sliced kumquats and pomegranate seeds for serving. Fill pan with water halfway up sides of fruit (do not overfill, or ice will cover fruit); freeze until solid, at least 4 hours.
  • In a large bowl, combine sake, wine, and pomegranate juice. When ready to serve, run warm water around edges of pan to loosen ice mold; gently unmold and float in bowl. Add reserved cherries to bowl with edible leaves. To serve, ladle punch into glasses, then top with seltzer and reserved pomegranate seeds and kumquats.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe pomegranates: Look for pomegranates that are heavy for their size and have a deep red color. Avoid any fruits that have soft spots or cracks.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut the pomegranates: This will help to prevent the fruit from splitting and make it easier to remove the seeds.
  • Be patient when removing the pomegranate seeds: It can be a time-consuming process, but it's worth it to get the delicious seeds out.
  • Add some sparkling water or ginger ale to the punch for a refreshing twist: This will also help to dilute the tartness of the pomegranate juice.
  • Garnish the punch with fresh pomegranate seeds, mint leaves, or rosemary sprigs: This will add a festive touch and make the punch even more delicious.

Conclusion:

Dragon's Blood Pomegranate Punch is a delicious and festive Halloween drink that is sure to be a hit with your guests. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste. So, gather your ingredients and get ready to enjoy this spooky and delicious punch!
