Categories     One Dish Meal

Time 1h25m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 -4 lbs chicken, cut up
1/2 cup seasoned flour
1/2 cup olive oil
2 garlic cloves, diced
2 medium onions, separated into rings
1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 green peppers, sliced into rings
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon oregano
1/4 lb mushroom

Steps:

  • Roll chicken in flour and brown in olive oil.
  • Add all other ingredients, cover and simmer at least one hour until chicken is tender.

Tips:

  • Use a large skillet or Dutch oven: This will give the chicken plenty of room to brown and prevent it from overcrowding.
  • Brown the chicken in batches: If you overcrowd the skillet, the chicken will steam instead of brown. Brown the chicken in batches if necessary.
  • Don't skip the flour: Dredging the chicken in flour before browning helps to thicken the sauce.
  • Use a good quality wine: The wine you use will have a big impact on the flavor of the sauce. Choose a dry white wine that you enjoy drinking.
  • Simmer the sauce for at least 30 minutes: This will allow the flavors to develop and meld together.
  • Serve with your favorite pasta or rice: Chicken cacciatore is a great dish to serve with pasta or rice. You can also serve it with mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.

Conclusion:

Chicken cacciatore is a classic Italian dish that is easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. This recipe is a great starting point, but feel free to experiment with different ingredients and flavors to create your own unique version of this dish.
