Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 4

3 c potatoes, peeled & diced
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 c vegetable oil

Steps:

  • 1. First season the potatoes. Heat oil in a 10 inch frying pan. Add in the potatoes to cook & stir constantly for about 5 mins over medium heat.
  • 2. Press them flat with a turner. Cook over low heat, then shake pan a few times until bottom is golden brown.
  • 3. Fold potato in half & serve warm.

Tips:

  • Use the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for hash browns, as they have a high starch content that helps them to brown and crisp up nicely.
  • Shred the potatoes finely: This will help them to cook evenly and prevent them from becoming too mushy.
  • Season the potatoes well: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all good choices. You can also add other seasonings, such as onion powder, paprika, or cayenne pepper, to taste.
  • Cook the hash browns over medium heat: This will help them to cook through without burning.
  • Flip the hash browns frequently: This will help them to brown evenly.
  • Serve the hash browns immediately: They are best when they are hot and crispy.

Conclusion:

Hash browns are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be served with a variety of meals. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a little practice, you can make perfect hash browns every time.
