EGG AND WEENIE SALAD

egg and weenie salad image

in hard times,my Mom made this for our school lunches and I still make it. I had a hard time convincing my girlfriend that it was good. But we now both love it. Good on Tricuits or on bread.

Provided by judy maples @grayceem

Categories     Other Salads

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 - hardboiled eggs
2 - cooked hot dogs best done on grill
totaste - gound black pepper
scant - mustard/yellow or spicy/optional
to taste - hellmans mayo just to make it goupy

Steps:

  • hard boil eggs and have weenies and eggs warm. chop eggs with pastry cutter and add weenies which have been quartered and chopped. Add pepper and mustard--if you chose-and mayo while everything is still warm. Refrigerate. A nice addition is a little fresh cilantro. We love this on a toasted bagel.

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest ingredients. This will ensure that your egg and weenie salad is as flavorful as possible. Look for eggs that are free-range and organic, and sausages that are made with high-quality meat.
  • Hard-boil the eggs perfectly. Overcooked eggs will be rubbery and difficult to chew, while undercooked eggs may contain harmful bacteria. To hard-boil eggs perfectly, place them in a single layer in a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 10-12 minutes. Remove the eggs from the heat and immediately place them in a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • Use a sharp knife to chop the eggs and sausages. This will help to ensure that the salad is evenly mixed and that the ingredients are not too large or too small.
  • Add your favorite seasonings and mix well. There are many different ways to season egg and weenie salad, so feel free to experiment until you find a combination that you enjoy. Some popular seasonings include mayonnaise, mustard, celery, onion, pickles, and hard-boiled eggs.
  • Chill the salad before serving. This will help to allow the flavors to meld and will make the salad more refreshing.

Conclusion:

Egg and weenie salad is a classic dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make, delicious, and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. If you are looking for a new salad recipe to try, I highly recommend giving egg and weenie salad a try. With its simple ingredients and delicious flavor, it is sure to become a favorite in your household.
