JUICIEST HAMBURGERS EVER

Juiciest Hamburgers Ever image

No more dry, lackluster burgers. These are juicy, and spices can be easily added or changed to suit anyone's taste. Baste frequently with your favorite barbeque sauce. If you find the meat mixture too mushy, just add more bread crumbs until it forms patties that hold their shape.

JUICY LUCY BURGERS

Juicy Lucy Burgers image

A favorite of Minnesotans! The famous Juicy Lucy! Mmmm. So good. You MUST use American cheese on this to achieve the juiciness in the middle! I like sauteed mushrooms and onions on mine!

Time 25m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 slices American cheese (such as Kraft®)
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and pepper in a large bowl; mix well. Form 8, thin patties from the beef. Each patty should be slightly larger than a slice of cheese.
  • Cut each slice of American cheese into 4 equal pieces; stack the pieces. Sandwich one stack of cheese between 2 ground beef patties. Tightly pinch edges together tightly seal the cheese within the meat. Repeat with the remaining cheese and patties.
  • Preheat a cast-iron or other heavy bottomed skillet over medium heat. Cook burgers until well browned, about 4 minutes. It is common for burgers to puff up due to steam from the melting cheese. Turn burgers and prick the top of each to allow steam to escape; cook until browned on the outside and no longer pink on the inside; about 4 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.

Tips:

  • Choose the right beef: Use a blend of 80% lean ground beef and 20% fat for the juiciest burgers. The fat content helps keep the burgers moist and flavorful during cooking.
  • Season the beef simply: Don't overcomplicate the seasoning. Salt and pepper are all you need to bring out the natural flavor of the beef.
  • Don't overwork the beef: Overworking the beef will make the burgers tough. Mix the beef gently until just combined.
  • Form the burgers gently: Handle the beef gently when forming the burgers. Don't press down on them too hard, or they will be dense and dry.
  • Cook the burgers over medium heat: Cooking the burgers over medium heat will help them cook evenly without burning the outside.
  • Don't flip the burgers too often: Only flip the burgers once during cooking. Flipping them too often will make them dry and tough.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure doneness: The best way to ensure that the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness is to use a meat thermometer. Cook the burgers to an internal temperature of 160°F for medium-rare, 165°F for medium, or 170°F for well-done.
  • Let the burgers rest before serving: Letting the burgers rest for a few minutes before serving allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a juicier burger.

Conclusion:

Follow these tips and you'll be able to make juicy, flavorful burgers that will be the hit of your next cookout. Experiment with different toppings and sides to find your favorite combinations. And don't forget to enjoy the process of making and eating these delicious burgers!
