Tips:

  • For a flakier crust, use a food processor to blend the butter and flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • If the dough is too dry, add a little water one tablespoon at a time until it comes together.
  • If the dough is too wet, add a little flour one tablespoon at a time until it is no longer sticky.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out. This will make it easier to work with and prevent the empanadas from shrinking in the oven.
  • To prevent the empanadas from leaking, make sure to seal the edges well before baking.
  • Bake the empanadas until they are golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
  • Serve the empanadas with your favorite dipping sauce, such as chimichurri or salsa.
