4 medium russet potatoes
1 tablespoon butter-flavored fat-free margarine
1 tablespoon minced fresh garlic (3 or 4 cloves)
1 1/4 cups nonfat milk
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

Tips:

  • For a creamier texture, use Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes.

  • Add the milk, butter, and sour cream gradually, until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Season the mashed potatoes to taste with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • For a roasted garlic flavor, roast a head of garlic in the oven before adding it to the mashed potatoes.
  • Garnish the mashed potatoes with chopped chives, parsley, or bacon bits.
