Tips:

  • Choose high-quality Italian sausage: Look for sausage made with fresh, flavorful pork and a blend of spices. Avoid sausages that are heavily processed or contain fillers.
  • Brown the sausage well: Browning the sausage in a pan over medium heat helps to develop its flavor and create a crispy exterior. Be sure to break up the sausage into small pieces as it cooks.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This stew is a great way to use up leftover vegetables or whatever you have on hand. Some good choices include potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and peppers.
  • Simmer the stew for at least 30 minutes: This allows the flavors of the sausage, vegetables, and broth to meld together. The longer you simmer the stew, the more flavorful it will be.
  • Serve with crusty bread or roasted potatoes: This stew is perfect for a cold night. Serve it with a side of crusty bread or roasted potatoes to soak up the delicious broth.
