Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 can (10 1/2 oz.) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
3/4 cup milk
1/8 tsp. black pepper
4 cups cooked cut green beans or 2 cans (14.5oz each) any style Del Monte® Green Beans, drained
1 1/3 cups French's® Crispy Fried Onions, divided

Steps:

  • Mix soup, milk, and pepper in a 1 1/2 -qt. baking dish. Stir in beans and 2/3 cup Crispy Fried Onions.

  • Top with remaining 2/3 cup onions. Bake 5 min. until onions are golden.
  • This recipe is made available as a courtesy by The French's Food Company LLC.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh green beans. If using frozen green beans, thaw them completely before cooking.
  • To blanch the green beans, bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Immediately remove the green beans from the boiling water and plunge them into a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process.
  • To make the cream sauce, use a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. This will help prevent the sauce from burning.
  • Add the shallots to the saucepan and cook until they are softened. This will take about 2-3 minutes. Stir the garlic into the saucepan and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Stirring constantly will prevent the garlic from burning.
  • Pour the heavy cream and chicken broth into the saucepan. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly. You can use a teaspoon to test the thickness. Just scoop up a small amount of sauce and let it cool for a few seconds before tasting.
  • Stir the blanched green beans into the cream sauce and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until the green beans are heated through.
  • Season the green beans with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the green beans immediately, garnished with fresh parsley or chives.

Conclusion:

French green beans in cream are a classic French dish that is both delicious and easy to make. The tender-crisp green beans are coated in a rich and creamy sauce, and the dish is often served with grilled or roasted chicken or fish. This dish is perfect for a special occasion or a weeknight meal.
