Steps:
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar, 1/2 cup water, and a few pieces of lemon rind (yellow part only). Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Squeeze lemons and combine juice with sugar syrup, vanilla, and remaining cold water.
- Add ice and serve in tall glasses.
Tips:
- Choose the right lemons: Use fresh, ripe lemons for the best flavor. Look for lemons that are heavy for their size and have a smooth, thin skin.
- Wash the lemons thoroughly: Before juicing the lemons, wash them thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or pesticides.
- Use a citrus juicer: A citrus juicer is the easiest way to extract the juice from lemons. If you don't have a citrus juicer, you can also use a fork or a spoon to squeeze the juice out of the lemons.
- Strain the lemonade: After juicing the lemons, strain the lemonade through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any pulp or seeds.
- Add sugar or honey to taste: Lemonade can be made with or without sugar. If you like your lemonade sweet, add sugar or honey to taste.
- Serve chilled: Lemonade is best served chilled. You can either chill it in the refrigerator for several hours or serve it over ice.
Conclusion:
Fresh-squeezed lemonade is a refreshing and delicious drink that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It is a good source of vitamin C and other nutrients, and it can also help to quench thirst and cool you down on a hot day. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make delicious fresh-squeezed lemonade at home.
