DEEP FRIED KOOL AID BALLS

Deep Fried Kool Aid Balls image

Correction to the recipe! it is 4 tablespoons of Kool Aid Mix with sugar. I use SPLENDA so I make my own "canisters" 1 pack KOOL AID to one cup SPLENDA. This would be a great idea for a kitchen party with friends, cutting the recipe in half and make a lot of different flavors.

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 c all purpose flour
1/2 c granulated sugar
1 tsp salt
4 Tbsp kool-aid (any flavor) mix*
1 Tbsp baking powder
2 Tbsp melted, unsalted butter
1/2 c milk
1 egg, beaten

Steps:

  • 1. Heat vegetable oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C)
  • 2. Mix all the dry ingredients together. Add the melted butter, and mix until the batter is crumbly. Stir in the milk and the egg. Mix until smooth. Roll the dough into quarter-size balls and drop them carefully into the hot oil a few at a time. (or use a small cookie scoop instead!)
  • 3. Cook in oil for about 3 minutes. Remove when the fried Kool-Aid batter is golden brown and crispy.
  • 4. After removing from the oil place on paper towel to drain.
  • 5. You can dust with a mix of same Kool-Aid and Powdered Sugar (1/8 cup Kool-Aid to 1/2 cup powdered sugar) or just Powdered Sugar.

Tips:

  • Choose the right Kool-Aid flavor: Not all Kool-Aid flavors are created equal for frying. Some flavors, like grape and cherry, work better than others. Experiment with different flavors to find your favorites.
  • Use a light breading: A heavy breading will weigh down the Kool-Aid and make it soggy. Instead, use a light breading, such as flour, cornstarch, or panko breadcrumbs.
  • Fry the Kool-Aid in hot oil: The oil should be hot enough to fry the Kool-Aid quickly and evenly. If the oil is not hot enough, the Kool-Aid will absorb too much oil and become greasy.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When frying the Kool-Aid, don't overcrowd the pan. This will cause the Kool-Aid to stick together and not cook evenly.
  • Serve the Kool-Aid immediately: Fried Kool-Aid is best served immediately. It can be served with a variety of dipping sauces, such as ketchup, mustard, or barbecue sauce.

Conclusion:

Fried Kool-Aid is a fun and easy snack or party food that can be made with just a few simple ingredients. With a little creativity, you can experiment with different flavors and toppings to create your own unique fried Kool-Aid recipe. So next time you're looking for a something fun and different to make, give fried Kool-Aid a try!
