Provided by Food Network

Categories     main-dish

Time 3h30m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 flank steak (any size)
2 tablespoons sesame oil
Red pepper flakes, to taste
4 cloves fresh garlic, finely chopped
Two 1 1/2-inch pieces fresh ginger, peeled and sliced as thinly as possible
1 cup dry red wine
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • In a shallow non-reactive dish spread 2 garlic cloves and half the ginger slices so that all parts of the meat will come in contact with them. Rub the meat with the sesame oil and red pepper flakes and place the steak onto the garlic and ginger. Spread the remaining garlic and ginger over the meat and pour the red wine, soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons of honey into the dish. Cover with plastic warp and marinate for 2 hours or overnight. Turn the meat once during marinating.
  • Heat a barbecue or grill. Cook the meat for 5 to 7 minutes on each side depending on the thickness of the meat. This may also be cooked under the broiler or, on the stove if you have a large enough skillet. The marinade can be used by bringing it to a boil in a saucepan and then straining.
  • After removing it from the heat, let the flank steak sit for a few minutes, then slice thinly against the grain and serve in its own juices with cooked marinade sauce drizzled on top.

GRANDMA'S BEST POT ROAST

Grandma's Best Pot Roast image

The simplest and best pot roast recipe ever, straight from my grandma's kitchen!

Provided by Abbie Persichetti

Time 5h

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (3 pound) bottom round roast
1 large yellow onion, roughly chopped
¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
¼ teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
1 cup water
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Trim excess fat from roast, leaving about 1/4 inch fat. Liberally season all sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Place roast, fat-side up, in a Dutch oven. Place onions on and around the roast.
  • Cover and bake until aromatic, about 1 1/2 hours. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue to bake, turning the meat every 30 minutes and keeping covered, until roast is browned and cooked through, about 3 hours more. An instant-read thermometer inserted in the thickest part of the roast should read 145 degrees F (65 degrees C).
  • Check tenderness of roast with a fork; if not tender enough, add additional cook time in 30-minute increments until meat easily falls apart.
  • Remove from the oven and transfer roast to a cutting board. Tent with foil and let rest for at least 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, whisk water and flour together in a small bowl.
  • Place the Dutch oven, uncovered, on the stovetop over medium heat. Smash the remaining onion pieces and stir, being careful not to let the gravy burn. Slowly add water-flour mixture, whisking until cooked through and desired thickness is achieved.
  • Slice roast and serve alongside gravy.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of meat. Chuck steak is a tough cut of meat, but it is also very flavorful. It is important to choose a chuck steak that is well-marbled, as this will help to keep it moist during cooking.
  • Brown the meat well before braising. Browning the meat will help to develop its flavor and give it a nice color.
  • Use a good quality braising liquid. The braising liquid is what will flavor the meat, so it is important to use a good quality liquid. Some good options include beef broth, red wine, or tomato sauce.
  • Cook the meat for a long time on low heat. Braising is a slow-cooking method, so it is important to cook the meat for a long time on low heat. This will help to tenderize the meat and make it fall apart easily.
  • Serve the meat with a flavorful sauce. The braising liquid can be used to make a flavorful sauce to serve with the meat. This will help to add even more flavor to the dish.

Conclusion:

Chuck steak fry roast is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a family meal. The meat is tender and flavorful, and the sauce is rich and savory. This dish can be served with a variety of sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or vegetables.
