GROUND CHERRY SALSA

I love salsa with a hint of natural sweetness and ground cherries are a perfect addition. This is a relatively mild salsa; if you like it spicier, don't remove the jalapeno seeds, or increase the amount of jalapeno. I use only organic produce, so I don't peel the cucumber.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe ground cherries: Look for ground cherries that are plump, firm, and have a deep orange or yellow color. Avoid any that are green or have bruises.
  • Prepare the ground cherries properly: Wash the ground cherries thoroughly and remove the husks. If you want to remove the seeds, you can slice the ground cherries in half and scoop out the seeds with a spoon.
  • Use fresh ingredients: The fresher the ingredients, the better your salsa will taste. Use ripe tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the heat level to your liking: If you like spicy salsa, add more jalapeño peppers. If you prefer a milder salsa, remove the seeds from the jalapeños before chopping them.
  • Let the salsa chill before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld together and develop. For the best flavor, chill the salsa for at least 30 minutes before serving.
