Tips:

  • Use ripe avocados: Ripe avocados are creamier and have a better flavor. To check if an avocado is ripe, gently squeeze it. It should yield to gentle pressure.
  • Mash the avocados with a fork or potato masher, not a blender: Using a blender will make the guacamole too smooth and creamy, and it will lose its chunky texture.
  • Season the guacamole to taste: Add salt, pepper, lime juice, and cilantro to taste. You can also add other seasonings, such as cumin, chili powder, or garlic powder, if desired.
  • Serve the guacamole immediately or refrigerate it for later: Guacamole is best when served fresh, but it can be refrigerated for up to 2 days. If you are refrigerating the guacamole, cover it tightly with plastic wrap to prevent it from turning brown.
  • To make the deviled eggs: Hard-boil the eggs, then peel and cut them in half. Remove the yolks and mash them with a fork. Add the guacamole, mayonnaise, mustard, salt, and pepper to taste. Pipe the mixture into the egg white halves and garnish with cilantro or paprika.
