HEARTY POTATO, HAM AND CHEESE CHOWDER
We all hated potato soup, until I came up with this combination. It is a hearty meal on a cold winters day. Extra ham and bacon, make it even more filling. It is a large batch, but freezes well. I sometimes bake the potatoes the night before, to save time.

Tips:
- Choose high-quality ingredients: Use fresh vegetables, flavorful cheese, and savory ham for the best-tasting chowder. Good-quality ingredients will elevate the flavor of the dish.
- Don't overcrowd the pot: When adding the vegetables, make sure not to overcrowd the pot. Overcrowding can prevent the vegetables from cooking evenly and can make the chowder watery.
- Use a good-quality broth: The broth is the base of the chowder, so it's important to use a good-quality one. A homemade broth will always be the best option, but if you're short on time, a store-bought broth will work just fine.
- Season to taste: Once the chowder is simmering, taste it and adjust the seasonings as needed. You may want to add more salt, pepper, or herbs to suit your taste.
- Garnish before serving: Before serving, garnish the chowder with fresh herbs, shredded cheese, or croutons for an extra touch of flavor and presentation.
