Hash Brown and Egg Casserole image

This is my family's recipe that has been handed down through the years. We've always used the maple flavored pork sausage but any kind is good. This casserole is a nice and cozy breakfast or brunch meal that everyone will enjoy. It's got the perfect taste with lots of cheese. Yum! Be sure to use a baking dish that is deep enough to cover with aluminum foil.

SAUSAGE HASH BROWN BREAKFAST CASSEROLE

Sausage Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole image

This super-easy breakfast casserole is actually good. You can make it the night before and keep the sausage/hash brown mixture separate from the egg mixture, then pour it over top right before it goes into the oven. You might need to cook it a little longer if its cold from the fridge. This is also great if you add a little onion.

Tips:

  • Shred your potatoes: Grating your potatoes will create a more fluffy and tender texture compared to dicing them.
  • Use fresh herbs: If you have access to fresh herbs, use them instead of dried ones. The flavor will be much more vibrant.
  • Cook the sausage until browned: This will help to develop its flavor and create a more savory gravy.
  • Use a good quality cheese: The cheese you use will have a big impact on the flavor of the casserole. Choose a cheese that is flavorful and melts well.
  • Don't overcook the casserole: The casserole is done when the potatoes are tender and the gravy is bubbly. Overcooking can make the potatoes gummy.

Conclusion:

This hash brown, egg, sausage, and gravy casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It is perfect for a crowd, and it can be made ahead of time. With its flavorful gravy, tender potatoes, and savory sausage, this casserole is sure to be a hit at your next gathering.
