5 potatoes, peeled, sliced
4 white herring fillets, skinless, boneless
1 cup pickled beet, chopped
1 cucumbers or 1 kosher dill pickle, chopped
2 apples, chopped
1/3 cup wine vinegar
1 teaspoon grated onion
1 hard-boiled egg
1 bunch parsley
4 anchovy fillets
1 cup sour cream
salt & pepper

Steps:

  • Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender, about 9 minutes. Drain and combine with remaining salad ingredients, vinegar, salt and pepper.

1/4 cup vinegar
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 to 2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup cooked beef, veal, lamb or pork, diced
1 cup cooked beets, diced
1 cup cooked potatoes, diced
2 sweet gherkins, diced
2 peeled, cored apples, diced
1 cup unsweetened, lightly salted whipped cream or 1 cup mayonnaise delicately colored with beet juice
2 or 3 hard-cooked eggs, sliced
6 or more cherry tomatoes, halved
Parsley for garnish

  • Mix first nine ingredients thoroughly, pack into 6-cup fishshaped mold (or other suitable mold) that has been rinsed with cold water and refrigerate.

2 pickled herring, pieces 6 oz jars wine-flavored drained and diced small
1 green apple, cored and diced small (unpeeled)
1/2 lb new potato, cooked and diced small (unpeeled)
1/2 cup finely diced cooked beef or 1/2 cup veal
2 tablespoons yellow onions, peeled and diced small
1/3 cup finely chopped dill pickle
6 tablespoons reserved beet liquid
2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
1 -2 tablespoon sugar
1 pinch fresh ground black pepper
salt
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 hard-boiled egg yolks, chopped or grated
