Steps:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, baking powder and sugar; set aside. Preheat waffle iron. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Stir in milk, butter and vanilla. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture and mix until combined. Pour batter into preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crispy. In a small sauce pan, combine chocolate sauce and hazelnut spread over low heat. Whisk until warmed through. Serve over waffles. Top with strawberries and whipped cream.
Tips:
- To make the smoothest sauce, use a high-quality chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 70%.
- Be sure to use unsalted butter so that you can control the amount of salt in the sauce.
- If you are using a microwave to melt the chocolate, be sure to do so in short intervals, stirring in between, to prevent the chocolate from burning.
- If you want a thicker sauce, simmer it for a longer period of time.
- If you want a thinner sauce, add a little bit of milk or cream.
- For a richer sauce, use heavy cream instead of milk.
- To make a vegan chocolate sauce, use dairy-free milk and butter.
- To make a sugar-free chocolate sauce, use a sugar substitute like stevia or monk fruit.
- To add extra flavor to your chocolate sauce, try adding a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, or a tablespoon of coffee liqueur.
- Serve chocolate sauce warm or at room temperature.
