HOT CRANBERRY CIDER - LOW CARB!!

Hot Cranberry Cider - Low Carb!! image

My father used to always make hot spiced cider at Christmas time, and I loved it - one of my favorite Christmas treats. But, with a combination of apple, orange, and pineapple juices, it was pretty high-carb - and now I am diabetic, so it's a definite no-no. But I have missed it so much, so I started trying to think of a low-carb alternative. This is what I came up with, and it's pretty darn good!! From what I have calculated, the whole pot has less than 60 carbs, so it is pretty guilt-free!! Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use fresh cranberries: Fresh cranberries have a brighter flavor and more nutrients than frozen cranberries. If you can't find fresh cranberries, you can use frozen cranberries, but be sure to thaw them completely before using.
  • Choose a good quality orange juice: The orange juice you use will make a big difference in the flavor of the cider. Look for a fresh-squeezed or not-from-concentrate orange juice.
  • Add spices to taste: The spices in the cider can be adjusted to your liking. If you like a more spicy cider, add more cinnamon, cloves, or nutmeg. If you prefer a sweeter cider, add more sugar or honey.
  • Garnish the cider with orange slices and cranberries: This will make the cider look more festive and inviting.
