Time 10m

Yield 1 serving

Number Of Ingredients 11

Ice cubes
3 ounces tequila
2 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ounce Simple Syrup, recipe follows
1/2 to 1 teaspoon orange liqueur
1 tablespoon Lime-salt-sugar, recipe follows
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Zest of one lime
2 tablespoons kosher salt
2 tablespoons sugar

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add tequila, lime juice, Simple Syrup and orange liqueur. Cover and shake until mixed and chilled, about 30 seconds. (In general, the drink is ready by the time the shaker mists up.) Place Lime-salt-sugar on a plate. Press the rim of a chilled rocks or wine glass into the mixture to rim the edge. Strain margarita into the glass.
  • Put the sugar and water in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring, until the sugar dissolves. (Alternatively, heat in the microwave.) Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
  • Blend together lime, salt and sugar in a small blender or mini food chopper.

THE PERFECT MARGARITA

The Perfect Margarita image

Mastering the margarita requires a certain amount of practice, but once you dial-in your perfect ratio, it's a really easy cocktail to replicate. The classic recipe is 3 parts tequila, 2 parts triple sec, and 1 part freshly squeezed lime juice, and you should probably start off pretty close to that, but my personal favorite proportions are 4-3-2.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality ingredients. Fresh limes, good-quality tequila, and orange liqueur will make all the difference in the taste of your margarita.
  • Use freshly squeezed lime juice. Bottled lime juice will give your margarita a sour, artificial taste.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of tequila and orange liqueur. There are many different brands and styles available, so you can find the perfect combination to suit your taste.
  • Make sure your margarita is well-chilled before serving. A cold margarita is always more refreshing.
  • Garnish your margarita with a lime wedge or a sprig of mint. This will add a touch of freshness and flavor.

Conclusion:

The Irish Margarita is a delicious and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your taste. So next time you're looking for a festive drink, give the Irish Margarita a try.
