FANTASTIC CRAB DIP

Fantastic Crab Dip image

This recipe can be served hot or cold with a variety of different crackers or bread. It can be placed in a loaf of hollowed out sourdough bread; the bread can be used for dipping. Don't heat dip when in the bread; bread will become soggy. Heat the dip, and then fill bread.

Time 40m

Yield 15 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 (6 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 medium onion, minced
1/2 red bell pepper, minced
2 garlic cloves, minced
10 white mushrooms, minced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 (6 ounce) can crabmeat (I used Victoria brand)
cheddar cheese (for topping)
nacho chips (for serving) or toasted pita bread, cut into triangles (for serving)

Steps:

  • In a small pan, saute onion and garlic.
  • Next saute bell pepper, then mushrooms.
  • Let cool.
  • In a bowl soften cream cheese with a spoon.
  • Add cooled vegetables, crab meat, and cheese.
  • Store in container in fridge until ready to serve.
  • SERVING INSTRUCTIONS: Place dip in a oven proof shallow bowl.
  • Spread dip evenly in bowl and top with more shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Warm slightly in microwave.
  • Bake in oven at 350 degrees, until slightly bubbling and the top is starting to turn golden brown.
  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley and parlsey sprig.
  • Place bowl on a serving plate and surround with nacho chips and pita points.

Tips:

  • Using fresh crab meat will give your dip the best flavor. If you're using frozen crab meat, be sure to thaw it completely before using.
  • Don't overmix the dip. Overmixing can make the dip tough.
  • Be careful not to overcook the dip. Overcooked dip will be tough and rubbery.
  • Serve the dip warm with your favorite crackers, chips, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Jim's crab dip is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer that is perfect for any occasion. With its creamy texture, rich flavor, and abundance of crab meat, this dip is sure to be a hit with your guests. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer, give Jim's crab dip a try.
