  • Transfer the skillet contents, including all of the drippings, to the bean pot.
  • Add all of the seasonings, except for the salt and pepper, and continue cooking uncovered for another 1/2 hour, or longer, until peas are tender and liquid has reduced to consistency desired.

  • Serve with a side of cornbread as a main dish meal over rice, or as a side dish with your favorite meat.

Tips for Making Creamy Pea Soup:

  • Use fresh or frozen peas. Fresh peas are best when in season, but frozen peas are a great option when fresh peas are not available.
  • Use good-quality stock. The stock you use will make a big difference in the flavor of your soup. Use a homemade stock if you have it, or use a good-quality store-bought stock.
  • Don't overcook the peas. Peas only take a few minutes to cook, so be careful not to overcook them. Overcooked peas will lose their sweetness and flavor.
  • Add cream or milk at the end of cooking. Adding cream or milk at the end of cooking will help to prevent the soup from curdling.
  • Season to taste. Be sure to season your soup to taste with salt and pepper. You may also want to add other herbs and spices, such as thyme, rosemary, or garlic powder.

Conclusion:

Creamy pea soup is a delicious and easy-to-make soup that is perfect for a quick and healthy meal. It is also a great way to use up leftover peas. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a creamy pea soup that is sure to please everyone at your table.
