Tips:
- Choose the right beans: Use dried beans for the best flavor and texture. If using canned beans, rinse them thoroughly before using.
- Soak the beans overnight: This will help soften the beans and reduce the cooking time.
- Use a slow cooker: This is the easiest way to cook baked beans. Simply combine all of the ingredients in the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 4-6 hours.
- Add some flavor enhancers: Brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, and mustard are all classic flavor enhancers for baked beans. You can also add other ingredients like bacon, sausage, or vegetables.
- Don't overcook the beans: Baked beans are best when they are slightly firm. If you overcook them, they will become mushy.
