The secret to a perfect tuna steak is to cook it as you would a rare or medium-rare steak, overcooking will produce a tough dry fish, the center needs to be pink -- plan ahead the steaks need to marinade for 8-24 hours, prep time includes refrigeration time --- I have made this in the past many times it is *very* good!

Time 2h10m

Number Of Ingredients 5

MARINADE
1/4 c each lime juice, fresh cilantro chopped and soy sauce
2 Tbsp olive oil
3 clove garlic minced
2 6 oz fresh tuna steaks

Steps:

  • 1. Mix the marinating ingredients together. Add the tuna steaks and let marinate at least 2 hours.
  • 2. Remove steaks from marinade. Discard the marinade. Sear the steaks in a little olive oil or grill. Usually about 4 or 5 minutes per side. Let rest 5 minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality tuna steaks: Look for steaks that are firm to the touch and have a deep red color. Avoid steaks that are slimy or have a grayish tint.
  • Marinate the tuna steaks for at least 30 minutes: This will help to tenderize the steaks and infuse them with flavor. You can use a variety of marinades, such as olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and herbs.
  • Cook the tuna steaks over high heat: This will help to sear the steaks and lock in the juices. Cook the steaks for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are cooked to your liking.
  • Let the tuna steaks rest before serving: This will help to keep the steaks juicy and flavorful. Let the steaks rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
  • Serve the tuna steaks with your favorite sides: Some popular sides for tuna steaks include roasted vegetables, grilled potatoes, and salad.

Conclusion:

Marinated tuna steaks are a delicious and healthy meal that can be prepared in just a few minutes. By following these tips, you can make sure that your tuna steaks are cooked to perfection and full of flavor. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give marinated tuna steaks a try!
