MISO GLAZED MAHI MAHI

Miso Glazed Mahi Mahi image

I love Miso Glazed fish and this is what I had on hand. Also loved that I cooked it on the George Foreman Grill but I think any electric grill would work. Easy Breezy Dinner in a flash. I served mine with Roasted Asparagus and Green Beans and Tomatoes..NOTE take into consideration how thick your fillets are. I cook mine about 4 minutes per inch thickness.

Provided by Unblond1

Number Of Ingredients 12

2tablespoons2 tablespoons sake or sherry
2tablespoons2 tablespoons miso paste
2tablespoons2 tablespoons mirin
1tablespoon1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2tablespoon1/2 tablespoon brown sugar
PinchPinch hot pepper flakes
1teaspoon1 teaspoon each grated garlic and ginger
Grated zest of one lime
1(6 ounce)1 (6 ounce) Mahi Mahi filet
1tablespoon1 tablespoon chopped scallion
1teaspoon1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
Juice of 1 lime

Steps:

  • Whisk together the sake, miso, mirin, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, cayenne and brown sugar in a bowl. Add the Mahi Mahi to a ziplock flipping over in the marinade to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Bring Mahi Mahi to room temperature, about 15 minutes, then remove the fish from the marinade and shake off excess. Save the remaining marinade. Heat a small non-stick pan over medium high heat with a small drizzle of sesame oil. Add the fish and cook until done, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove fish from pan to a serving plate. Pour the reserved marinade in the pan and cook until it is reduced by half. Add the scallions and sesame seeds, tossing to mix. Pour over the Mahi Mahi. Squeeze the lime on top, and serve.

Tips:

  • To ensure the best flavor, select fresh and high-quality mahi-mahi fillets. Look for firm, opaque flesh with a mild, slightly sweet smell.
  • For a crispy crust on the fish, pat the mahi-mahi fillets dry with a paper towel before cooking. This will help the glaze adhere to the fish and create a golden-brown exterior.
  • Make sure to marinate the mahi-mahi fillets for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This will allow the flavors of the marinade to penetrate the fish and enhance its taste.
  • When cooking the mahi-mahi fillets, use a medium-high heat. This will help to sear the fish quickly and prevent it from becoming overcooked.
  • Baste the mahi-mahi fillets with the miso glaze frequently while cooking. This will help to keep the fish moist and flavorful.
  • Serve the miso-glazed mahi-mahi immediately with your favorite sides, such as steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Conclusion:

Miso-glazed mahi-mahi is a delicious and easy-to-prepare dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion. The miso glaze adds a unique and flavorful crust to the fish, while the delicate flavor of the mahi-mahi shines through. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a restaurant-quality meal that will impress your family and friends.
