Yield Makes 1 drink

Number Of Ingredients 6

7 to 10 fresh mint leaves, plus 1 leaf for garnish
1/2 oz/15 ml Simple Syrup
Juice of 1/4 lime, plus 1 lime wedge for garnish
1 oz/30 ml rum
Ice cubes
1 oz/30 ml chilled sparkling wine

Steps:

  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the mint leaves with the Simple Syrup and lime juice. Using a muddler or the handle of a long wooden spoon, crush the mint. Add the rum and fill the cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice cubes. Cover and shake vigorously for 5-10 seconds. Strain through a strainer or fine-mesh sieve into a rocks glass filled with ice. Top with the sparkling wine. Garnish with the reserved mint leaf and a wedge of lime. Serve at once.

THE REAL MOJITO

This is an authentic recipe for mojito. I sized the recipe for one serving, but you can adjust it accordingly and make a pitcher full. It's a very refreshing drink for hot summer days. Be careful when drinking it, however. If you make a pitcher you might be tempted to drink the whole thing yourself, and you just might find yourself talking Spanish in no time! Tonic water can be substituted instead of the soda water but the taste is different and somewhat bitter.

Time 10m

Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 6

10 fresh mint leaves
½ lime, cut into 4 wedges
2 tablespoons white sugar, or to taste
1 cup ice cubes
1 ½ fluid ounces white rum
½ cup club soda

Steps:

  • Place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.

Tips:

  • Use fresh limes for the best flavor. Limes that are too old or have been sitting out for too long will not produce as much juice or have as strong a flavor.
  • If you don't have simple syrup, you can make your own by dissolving 1 cup of sugar in 1 cup of boiling water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved and then let it cool before using.
  • If you don't have champagne, you can use prosecco or sparkling white wine instead.
  • Garnish the mojito champagne cocktail with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint for a festive touch.
  • Experiment with different fruits and herbs to create your own unique mojito champagne cocktail recipes.

Conclusion:

The mojito champagne cocktail is a refreshing and delicious drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your own taste. Whether you are looking for a refreshing summer cocktail or a festive holiday drink, the mojito champagne cocktail is sure to please.
